After Pierre Courvoisier (1756–1804) — Nyon Jeune — View of the triumphal fountain Place de la Bastille under construction on the site of the Bastille — engraving — circa 1830 .

Engraving by young Nyon after Courvoisier representing one of the first redevelopment projects for the Place de la Bastille under the First Empire, around 1800. The elephant project seduced Napoleon, who ordered its construction in 1812. Its construction was interrupted in 1815 and the project remained abandoned for many years and was immortalized by Hugo in a scene from Les Misérables.

Cut inside the bowl and pasted on cardboard. Tears in the margins. Gaps in the lower corners (see photos above).
