IV + 216 pp. untrimmed & untrimmed (except for the IV pages of the Author's Note). 8 plates out of text in color by Charles Fouqueray, marine painter. Translation taken from the first edition in French five years earlier by G. Jean-Aubry & André Ruyters. 1 of 910 copies on pure Arches vellum (number 389), after 10 japons, 20 Holland & 150 royal Vidalon vellum, for a total print run of 1100. Paperback. Filled cover. Caps slightly yellowed. Any small knock on the front cover, in the center. Very slight crease marks at the corners (see photos above).
Very pleasant second French edition - the first illustrated - of these short stories, the second of which was famously - and freely - adapted to the cinema by Francis Ford Coppola under the title 'Apocalypse now'.
