Rare 1st edition of this epistolary autobiography by Gustave de Boissieu - extracted from: Souvenirs de l'École Sainte-Geneviève - notices on the pupils killed in the enemy, by the Reverend Father Chauveau, of the Society of Jesus - and 'published[ e] apart from a small number of copies not offered for sale'.
Compilation of letters to his family by Gustave de Boissieu — who took part in the campaigns in Indochina (1860), Italy (1866) and the Franco-Prussian war — whose author "felt it necessary to keep the original text in whole in this reprint which is only intended for a very small number of readers, well aware of the ideas and feelings of the young officer and his biographer".
