Marie de Robiano — Calligraphic album of architectural watercolours, work of a young Belgian aristocrat — circa 1850.

I n-folio (29 x 39 cm.). Title page illustrated with a watercolor + 1 p. of text in two calligraphic columns + 24 ff. thick, fine-grained vellum with the watercolors — 6 on the full page and the rest on the upper half with a calligraphic commentary below, all under serpente (3 missing). Half black shagreen binding. Smooth back decorated with false nerves and boxes . Golden title . Upper cover illustrated with hot iron from the Convent of Birds: in a Gothic altar, two hearts — one sacred, the other pierced with a sword — above the inscription: 'House of Birds'. All golden edges. Corners and caps rubbed. A small knock on the upper right corner of the top plate. Label ghost mark in the same place. Front guards restored. Interior very good despite very rare and slight foxing (see photos above).
