1st edition of the complete works — which will be completed in 1843 with later novels (91 volumes) . This brings together the 9 titles existing at that date, namely: Précaution, ou Le Choix d'un mari (3 vols.); The Spy (3 vol.); The Pilot (3 vol.); Lionel Lincoln, or The Siege of Boston (3 vols.); The last of the Mohicans, a story of one thousand seven hundred and fifty-seven (3 vols.); The Pioneers (3 vol.); La Prairie (3 vol.); The Red Corsair (3 vols.) ; The Puritans of America (3 vols.). Complete with "27 etched plates by Messrs. Alfred and Tony Johannot, and from their own drawings" announced in the Notice to subscribers at the end of volume 24 and divided into 23 illustrations by Johannot and 4 cards including 3 colored. On the whole, only 9 volumes (volumes 13 to 18 and 22 to 24) have title pages (dated 1828 and illustrated with vignettes), the others only showing the two half-title pages (Complete Works, volume both ; title of the novel in English and French).
