Paris, Barbu, 1772 . 3 volumes in-12° (10 x 16.5 cm.). Volume 1: 12 + 540 pp. Volume 2: 471 pp. Volume 3: 424 pp. Beautiful headbands and culs-de-lamp engraved on wood. Splendid period binding in full glazed calfskin. Triple gilt fillet framing the dishes. Smooth backs decorated with grotesque. Title and volume number parts in brown morocco. Gold fillet on the cuts. Golden inner wheel. Golden slices . Slight scratches, one on the front cover, the other on the back of volume three. Two very small wormholes on the jaws of volumes 1 & 3. Very fresh interior. Some very rare foxing . Graphite inscriptions in the margins — essentially lines and crosses indicating a passage. Ex-libris wet stamps on the half-title and title pages of each volume (Alexandre Lesdos — Cherbourg). (see photos above).

This collection contains the following prayers: volume 1: For S. Roscius Amérinus, Divination against Q. Cécilius, Against Verres touching the statues, Against Glass touching the tortures. Volume 2: For the Manilia law, For Muréna, For the poet Archias, For his House, Against Pison. Volume 3: For Milo, For King Déjotarus, For Marcellus, For Ligarius, First Philippic, Second Philippic.

This is the first edition of this translation revised by François de Wailly (1724-1801) from that of Joseph-François Bourgoing de Villefore (1652-1737), published in 1732, with opposite the Latin text established by Richard Xavier-Felix Lallemant (1729-1810).
